I hear so many questions about whether or not you can eat someone else’s placenta or use the products made from it for other people or children.
Here are some things you need to know
Ingestion the placenta for medicinal purposes is not new.
Traditional Chinese medicine in now a widely used, respected, and proven method of medicine.
The pharmaceutical name for the placenta is ‘Placenta Hominis’, meaning ‘human placenta’.
Any time placenta has been prescribed, it is not traditionally made from the placenta of the person coming for treatment.
Often the placenta medicine is combined with other herbs after an assessment has been done by the TCM Dr and any imbalances in the Qi are found, assessed and treated via various methods combined, this may include, acupuncture, massage, cupping and herbs.
This all means that you can ingest someone else’s placenta, keeping in mind, you must ensure that there are no blood born viruses contained. Using your own common sense in finding out how healthy the person you are using the placenta from is essential in protecting your own health.
Up until recent years cosmetic companies from around the world have been using placenta in their skin care products. In fact, I’m pretty sure there is still Japanese companies that produce a placenta gel drink. The only reason they stop when they do, is because government regulations come in to say that it is unethical to purchase human placenta. Newspapers, occasionally find out about the unethical behaviour of hospitals and it makes a great story. Standards for placenta processing are rising and it’s wise to know that you have chosen a service with an ethical and up to current health regulations provider.
